Kanye’s label, Roc-A-Fella Records, cleaned up the entire Rap category. In addition to Kanye’s four, Jay-Z snatched up the Best Rap Sung Collaboration for his “Umbrella” with Rihanna.
The star of the night however, was the always controversial Amy Winehouse who, in her absence, won a total of five awards including Best New Artist, Record of the Year (Rehab), and Song of the Year (Rehab). If you haven’t heard the song before here’s the Roc-A-Fela remix featuring the boy Hov:
Another major shot out goes to Lupe Fiasco and his award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance for “Daydreaming” featuring Jill Scott.
Even Presidential hopeful Barack Obama got in on the action. While he was busy winning states and delagates in his bid for the White House, his book The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream won the award for Best Spoken Word Album.
