Week 33 of 2008 is officially a wrap. From Georgia getting invaded to Georgia being named the preseason #1 team in the nation, it’s all in the wrap up.
Russia goes bully mode:
In the Olympic spirit of international competition, Russia has chosen the country of Georgia to be their first military opponent. The Russians actually began their invasion some time last weekend. Meanwhile the Georgia’s President, Mikheil Saakashvili did more live interviews for CNN than Barack Obama this week, pleading for U.S. and U.N. assistance.
Towards the end of the week Russia got ballsy enough to give tell the U.S to choose sides in the matter. All the talk from Washington has been denouncement of the Russia’s activities. But no action has been taken.
Russia has been giving off signs that were getting cocky for a while now
The U.S has the majority of its resources tied up in the middle east particularly Iraq.
Russia knows this.
You do the math.
Michael Phelps goes gold:
It still remains to be seen if the ‘redeem team’ will bring home the gold. However if they don’t, swimmer Michael Phelps has enough gold medals give one each to Kobe, LeBron, D Wade, CP3, Deron Williams, Dwight Howard and even Coach K, keeping one for himself of course.
That’s right the boy has eight gold medals. That sets the record for most gold medals won by a swimmer at a single Olympics. He also now has more gold medals than any Olympian in history. That’s major.
At only 23 years old, he can compete in two more summer Olympic games while before his mid-thirties
He got $1 million bonus from Speedo for winning all 8 medals
Obama can still find the dough
Based on figures released this week by the Obama campaign, Barack raised over $51 million during the month of July. Despite going on vacation for more than a week. Now having raised over $400 million since the start of his campaign, it is expected to soon crack the half a billion dollar mark. What’s even uglier is that one his top aides believes that as September and October draw near the money will start flowing even more.
At $400 million with 2 1/2 months to go, Obama has nearly raised as much as Bush and Kerry combined ($473 million) in their 2004 election campaigns.
The $51 million from June was donated by over 65,000 new donors, the campaign is aiming for 2 million donors.
Sport and Play: Georgia voted Preseason #1
The SEC gears up for another season in the national spotlight. This year the Georgia Bulldogs wear the crown as they are crowned the preseason #1 team in the country. The single elimination season tournament starts with their first game against Georgia Southern.
An SEC team has won the BCS National Championship the last two years in a row
News of the weak:
In this week’s weak news I have to address this Game coming at Jay-Z situation. Homie was just on Rap City with Busta Rhymes crying and complaining about the ills of industry life among other things. So now I guess he’s got his bearings back and focused on throwing rocks at the throne.
But read what he said because you can’t make this stuff up:
I’m too disrespectful for Jay-Z, I go to hard. His beef is mediocre beef, it’s more swag and less hardcore.
I can be a fan of Jay and still rip him limb from limb lyrically and still be a fan. After I finish him off, I’m still going to listen to Reasonable Doubt afterwards. I’ll kiss Jay goodbye with his own lips. I’m going to make him mad enough to where he has to say something. Jay imma make you so mad you gonna have to diss me…[laughs] I need him to do it, I got an album coming out; help me.”
Weaker than 7 days.
Jay-Z this, Jay-Z that, what y’all get front page articles if you mention Jay-Z’s name? – Jay-Z LOL
Until next week…it’s a wrap.
