Where were you March 9, 1997 when the news dropped that the Notorious B.I.G. died? I got word of the shooting from my mom who had heard it on her car radio. I was 12 years old at the time and considering Tupac was just murdered seven months earlier, it was a definite blow.
Big’s final album, eerily titled Life After Death, was released a few weeks later. It was a double disc CD filled with just the right balance of street songs, club anthems and general bangers that solidified his spot as the greatest rapper at the time.
