Well, if you’ve been on Twitter anytime during the last 24 hours you’ve probably heard about the new Burger King commercial featuring the Queen of Hip Hop Soul, Mary J. Blige.
Depending on who you follow you may have read any number of opinions about the 30 second spot from those that viewed it as cooning to those who had no problem with it at all.
Unfortunately I read about it before I saw it which, in a way, influenced my opinion. Either way, I have Steve Stoute’s book on Kindle which introduced me to a certain type of brand marketing, especially when dealing with the culture from Mary represents.
The commercial was pulled today (one day after it’s debut) for supposed licensing issues with the song. If you want to check the commercial out you can do so on Gawker.
